Hotels in China & Transportation

China Hotel Reviews & Guides

Read about hotels in China including hotel guides, China hotel reviews, and also see photos.

Chengdu Airport Hotel - Right by the Chengdu airport, there's a strip of hotels and restaurants to accommodate people who needs to stay overnight and have an early flight the next morning

Harbin Tianzhi Hotel - I booked my stay at the Tianzhi Hotel while visiting Harbin. It's located on the famous Zhongyang Street of Harbin city - a prime location for touring. Just a few blocks north by the Songhua River is the Stalin Park and the Harbin Flood Prevention Monument.

Hainan Noble Yacht Club Hotel - The Hainan Noble Yacht Club is located at No. 99 Binhai Road West, about 5 minutes west of Holiday Beach.

Sanya Horizon Resort and Spa - We've been at the Horizon Resort and Spa for 3 days already, and it's been an amazing stay thus far. Everything here is here just as we saw on photos (if not better), the hotel employees are ultra friendly and helpful, and the scenery, beach, and ocean is just fantastic.

Sanya Hotels - The Yalongwan (Yalong Bay) area of Sanya is where all the best 5 star hotels are located. I pretty much combed through every available 5 star hotel in the Yalong Bay area including hotels such as the Sanya Sheraton Resort, Sanya Marriott, Hilton Hotel and Resort, Gloria Hotels, and Holiday Inn.

Sanya Yalong Bay Hotels - The Horizon Resort & Spa hotel is very nice. The hotel has about 800 rooms, has several swimming pools in the gardens, and has an amazing private beach available only to its guests.

China Transportation

Wonder how people get around in China? Get a first person perspective on Jim's travels through China taking buses, trains, and planes.

Beijing Airport and Chinese Customs - Typically, this transfer process would take longer than two hours, with most of the time sucked up by the long line-ups at the customs area, and the following security check areas.

Beijing Airport Taxi Scam - On first arrival, many tourists probably aren't aware of all the scamming "vultures" around at every corner - myself included. So I'm going to share some of my unpleasant experiences with you. Perhaps you can avoid some of it.

Beijing Airport - Inside the beijing airport, once you exit into the airport building, you take a flight of stairs up to the 3rd floor. Following the signs, within about 5 to 10 minutes of walking, you'll take a flight of stairs down to the 2nd floor and you'll see the customs in a large open area.

Chengdu Airport - Security check-in at the Chengdu Airport – there was a short line up at the security check. Chengdu airport probably has one of the most relaxed security check-in process of all the airports I’ve been to.  They didn’t require me to unpack my laptop like most other airports.

Chengdu to Harbin Flight - I booked my flight from Chengdu to Harbin at 8:15am. Because it’s an early flight, I took a bus from Neijiang to Chengdu. The bus ride took a little over 2 hours, arriving at Chengdu around 5:45pm.

Haikou Airport - After coming out of the Haikou airport, we immediately got the feeling of being in a tropical place. The air was fresh, and the surrounding were filled with all types of tropical plants and trees.

Harbin Airport - The local temperature was minus 8 degrees, and I could feel the chill immediately after exiting the plane. I’ve lived in Saskatechewan (Mid Canada) for several years in the late 80’s and early 90’s, where it often gets to 40 below with wind chill, so I’m not new to the bone chilling cold.

Leaving Sanya and Haikou - It sure was a depressing time to leave such a beatiful and fun place like Sanya Yalong Bay.

Xian 3 Wheeler Taxi - From the moment I stepped outside of Xian Airport, I knew right away I was in for scortching hot summer days in Xian.

Xian Airport - My flight from Chengdu to Xian was only one hour long – I had arrived in Xian at 11am. Xian airport is rather small actually, much smaller than I had imagined.
