Shanghai Wild Animal Park Tour

Take a Daytrip to the Shanghai Wild Animal Park

Located in Xuan Qiao Town in the Nanhui District and just 35 kilometers outside of Shanghai is the Shanghai Wild Animal Park. The park was opened to the public in 1995. It was the first national wild animal park established by the Shanghai Municipal Government and State Forestry Administration.

The Wild Animal Park houses more than ten thousand animals from more than two hundred different species. Some of the most popular animals in the zoo are the rare giant pandas, snub-nosed monkeys, and the Chinese tiger.

The park has a variety of walking areas as well as the bus tour.

On the bus, which takes you through the heart of the park, you can see a variety of different animals. Many of the animals are native to the African plains including lions, cheetahs, elephants, and giraffes. You can also see bears and tigers.

The walking area offers you another opportunity to get close to the animals. You can see a variety of rare tigers as well as those world famous pandas. Among the other animals in the walking area are ring-tailed lemurs and kangaroos.

As you explore the park, you will discover the aquatic bird lake, the bird zone, rare animal park, the herbivore zone, and the performance zones, where you can see shows. The little ones will have a great time by visiting some of the smaller and gentler animals in the petting zoo.

Some of the most popular place to see in the park are Crocodile Island, which is home to 34 different crocs, the chimpanzee house, and all of the different predators seen on the bus tour. The White Tiger House is also very popular, and attracts quite a few of the park's visitors.

At the Beast Sports Arena, you can watch shows featuring lions, tigers, cheetahs, and bears, while at the Sea Lion Exhibit, you can watch the antics of some of the most beloved sea mammals in the world.

When visiting Shanghai, a day trip to the Shanghai Wild Animal Park makes for a great experience. The entrance fee of 100RMB covered any shows you decide to attend, as well as a ride through their dangerous animal encounter. The easiest and most cost effective way to get to the park is by taking the bus or the subway. Alternatively, you could hire a private driver or take a cab.
