Chengdu Travel and Tour

Sightseeing in and around Chengdu, China

Visitors travelling and vacationing in Chengdu will find many sights that just beg to be explored. You can find everything from temples and pandas to dinosaurs. The following is a list of some of the things that you should see if you are visiting the area.

Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Center

This center is dedicated to helping preserve one of the rarest and most beloved animals in the world, the Giant Panda. It provides safe and natural environments that those running the center hope will help to encourage breeding. There are other species of animals at the site as well. Located just a few miles outside of Chengdu, this makes the perfect place to spend the whole day.

Baoguang Temple

Located just about eleven miles outside of Chengdu, the beautifully constructed temple, whose name means ‘Divine Light,’ is full of historic relics and statues that are unique to the area. It is a beautiful place to visit, and there are plenty of great opportunities to take photos of the impressive architecture.

Qingyang Temple

This is one of the most famous Taoist temples in all of China and is located in the northwestern part of Chengdu. It houses a number of impressive Taoist relics as well as a teahouse that everyone is certain to enjoy. Both tourists and Chengdu locals frequent the temple.

Zigong Dinosaur Museum

This is the largest dinosaur museum in southeast China, and boasts a very impressive collection of fossils. Though it is not located directly in Chengdu, it is just a short drive away and is well worth the trip.

The Thatched Cottage of Du Fu

Du Fu was a famous poet who lived during the time of the Tang Dynasty. At the time of the An-Shu Rebellion, he fled to Chengdu, where he lived in this little thatched cottage (which was built with the help of his friends) and composed more than 240 poems that are considered to be national treasures. Over the years, to help commemorate this literary hero, the grounds on which the thatched cottage stands have been enlarged and well kempt.
