Yangtze River Viking Cruise

Cruising along the Rivers of China…Like a Viking?

China is a vast country with a wide variety of land features. You can find open plains, thick forests, majestic peaks, and great cities. The beautiful lakes and the long winding rivers are yet another popular feature in China. One of the best and unique ways to see the country is to take river tour.

Viking River Cruises offers a number of different tours that take you all along the Yangtze River and through some of the most scenic and important places in China. The company offers a variety of tours, which stop at different destination.

Some of the most notable destinations in China are ports of call on these tours, including Xian, where you can see the Terra Cotta Warriors, the capital city of Beijing, and Three Gorges. All of the tours are quite good – it simply depends on where you go and what you want to see.

The company also offers an 'all encompassing tour' that takes you to just about every destination you would ever want to see in China. This is called the Silk Road Adventure, and it is a seventeen-day tour. This ensures that you have plenty of time to see everything that you want and that you are never rushed.

You begin your trip with two and a half days exploring the beautiful and exciting city of Shanghai. You will then fly to Wuhan, where you can explore for a short time before getting on your ship and readying for the actual cruise.

The first port of call is the small village of Yueyang. Next, the ship will begin their travel through the Three Gorges and visit the Three Gorges Dam. Later, you will visit the12-story Shibaozhai Temple that overlooks the river valley.

You will then reach Chongqing and get a chance to visit their famous zoo. Afterwards, you will fly to Xian. The next day you get to explore the famed city and the nearby mysterious Terra Cotta Warriors of Emperor Qin Shi Huang. Next, you will fly to the mountain valley of Urumqi. You will also visit Turpan and Kashgar before reaching your final destination of Beijing.

While spending your final days in Beijing, you can see some of the most impressive sights in and around the city, including the Forbidden Palace, the Beijing Zoo, and the Great Wall of China.

You won't find a better way to see this much of China on a single vacation. It is a trip well worth taking.
