Taiwan Taipei Travel

Things to Do and See in Taipei

Taipei is a large city that is friendly to tourists and offers plenty of things to see and do. Whatever type of vacation or adventure you are looking for, Taipei is almost certain to have it. While in Taipei, the following is a list of things that you should do your best to see. Not only do they give you a good sense of the people and the culture, but these sites are fun and interesting as well.

The National Palace Museum

While this museum was originally founded in Beijing in 1925, it moved to its current home in Taipei in the 1940s. It houses the largest collection of Chinese artifacts of any museum in the world. Some of the artifacts here are more than a thousand years old.

Yangmingshan National Park

Located very close to Taipei is the Yangmingshan National Park. This beautiful area is filled with hiking trails, hot springs, and some of the most incredible views in all of Taiwan. It makes a great place to see nature and relax all alone or with the whole family.

Shi Lin Night Market

The Shi Lin Night Market is one of the most famous night markets in all of Taiwan and is popular with both locals and tourists. Everything imaginable, from clothes and jewelry to toys and food, can be found at the market. Some of the most popular food items include fried squid, tempura, and boba (bubble tea). The market opens around 4 PM and runs until just about 2 AM.

Martyrs’ Shrine

The Martyr’s Shrine is a building dedicated to those who sacrificed their lives in service to China. The building itself, while built for a somber purpose, is beautiful. If you get the chance, stay for the changing of the guards, an elaborate process that happens once an hour.

Beaches

There are several popular beaches in Taipei, and the most famous has to be Fulung Beach, which is located just outside the city. The beaches make a nice place to unwind.

Taipei offers many more things to see and do than the above sampling. You are sure to find a whole host of activities that speak directly to the vacationer and adventurer in you. If you are going to be vacationing in Taipei, check HotelsCombined.com to find the best deals on world-class accommodations. It can save you a lot of headaches in the end.
